=Simple Microphone Recording and Audio Editing: Counting to the Beat=
In this activity you'll use a USB microphone to record your voice, then do some editing (cut/copy/paste/move) of the recorded waveform, then add a loop (or loops) to accompany the edited audio.
You'll basically be counting from 0 to 9, then chopping up the recorded waveform and copying each number in reverse order so it sounds like you are then counting backwards from 9 to 0, then adding a drum loop and finally moving the recorded counts so it sounds like you are counting to a beat. If time, add DSP effects (i.e. reverb, EQ, etc.).
Below are tutorial videos to review recording with both USB and conventional XLR microphones (which requires an audio interface). Check with your instructor to see which type of mic you should use.
